The Woodstock Renaissance Faire is a fantasy-inspired 'Festival of the Arts' sponsored by the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Arts. Preceded by a week of concerts, performances, lectures and gallery exhibits at the town's many businesses, restaurants, galleries and performance centers, the Faire itself is a 2-day extravaganza on Woodstock's beautiful, parklike Comeau Property. In a setting of sweeping lawns with a mountain backdrop, visitors will find sters, jugglers, gypsies, minstrels, musicians, mimes, magicians and more. Knights do battle, falcons soar, and a 16th century forge and other demonstrations are fascinating opporunities to see into the past. Storytellers and magicians hold forth at the Mystic Circle where entries in the Dragon Contest guard the audience and await the awarding of honors and prizes. Visitors will find three performance stages that deliver non-stop entertainment, a Royal Pavilion with Queen & King and their court in attendance, many of the area's best artisans and crafters plying their wares, a Children's Area with activities for kids 10 & under, and much, much more. Open Renaissance Arts Week takes place the week prior to Faire dates, which are traditionally the 3rd weekend in May, Saturday & Sunday, 11AM - 6PM. Write for specific details.
