First Church of Albany

On National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in 1642, contains oldest pulpit and weathervane in the United States. Open year round, M-F 9AM-4PM. Handicap accessible. Free admission.

Saint Peter's Episcopal Church
State and Lodge Streets, Albany, NY 12207

A National Historic Landmark. Originally built in 1712, this is the oldest Episcopal Church north of New York City. Open year round, M-F, 11:30AM-1:15PM. Free admission.



New Skete Community
New Skete Road, Cambridge, NY 12816
A secluded Eastern Orthodox monastery, convent and communtiy of commited lay people. The complex has two houses of worship: the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ is open at all times (during hours) and contains paintings and icons made by members. The Church of Christ the Wisdom of God is open only for religious services. There is a gift shop on the premises. Open year round, M-F 9AM-Noon, 1-4:30PM, SaSu 1:30-5PM. Free admission.



Shaker Meeting House
Albany-Shaker Road, Colonie, NY 12211
Site of America's first Shaker settlement, circa 1848, located on the grounds of the Ann Lee home. (Ann Lee, known as Mother Ann Lee, was the founder of the sect). Grounds contain original orchard, herb garden, cemetery. Open year round, M-F 9AM-4PM. Guided tours include demonstrations of traditional Shaker crafts. Handicap accessible. Small admission fee.
